Yesterday our team raced Le Samyn des Dames, a race known for its heavy cobblestone sections.
With almost all Health Mate – Cyclelive riders in the front of the peloton, it went fast to the first cobblesection. The peloton started to break and multiple riders were falling behind.
Tara Gins, Janine van der Meer and Laura Vainionpää were chasing back the peloton when Laura crashed in a corner, due to a braking maneuver of another teamcar. Luckily without any injuries.
Chloë Turblin was able to come back to the peloton and finished her very first UCI race on place 37! This is only her third race on this level!
Marieke van Witzenburg could stay in the front group all day. In the final several riders could escape. Janneke Ensing (Alé Cipollini) won the race solo.
Marieke sprinted to a 20th place!
Our other riders needed to abandon the race.
